Ricardo grew up in the Netherlands and built his early career in discipline and physical training, first as part of the Royal Dutch Marine Corps, then as a personal trainer in Australia and the Netherlands. He knew the body well. What yoga brought him, when he discovered it in 2017, was the missing piece: the connection between body and mind.
Bali got him too, as it tends to do. He made the move, switched paths entirely, and committed himself fully to becoming a yoga teacher. His RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance spans Hatha, Vinyasa, meditation, sound bath and restorative practice, and Yin Yang yoga. He has also assisted in yoga teacher trainings, giving him a solid understanding of how people learn and progress.
His classes reflect where he came from and where yoga has taken him: dynamic, grounded, and open to everyone regardless of level. He is drawn to the somatic side of practice, the felt experience of being in your body, and brings that awareness into every session.
Ricardo has been part of the PONO team for several years and teaches Hatha, Vinyasa, meditation, sound bath and restorative practice, and Yin Yang yoga at the shala as part of our daily class schedule.
