Mangku

Hatha | Bali Yoga

Jero Mangku Balinese yoga teacher in Bali at Power of Now Oasis in Sanur, Bali.

Jero Mangku comes from a long line of traditional Balinese Hindu priests, and that heritage runs through everything he does. To Mangku, life itself is an offering, and his teaching reflects that completely.

Certified by the School of Sacred Arts in Bali, he has been part of the PONO team for over a decade and brings something genuinely rare to our schedule: a practice rooted in deep spiritual knowledge, bodywork, and a lifetime of devoted study. In a world where yoga is often taught as fitness, Mangku offers something different. His classes carry the weight of a living tradition, one that has been passed down through generations and preserved with care and devotion.

His Bali Yoga classes are a dynamic style similar to Ashtanga Vinyasa but drawn from traditional Balinese roots, sitting alongside Hatha and meditation in his weekly teaching at the shala. For students who have only experienced modern yoga styles, stepping into a Bali Yoga class with Mangku is a genuinely different experience. The rhythm, the intention, and the spiritual current running through the practice set it apart from anything else on the schedule.

What makes his classes so loved, by locals, expats, and visitors alike, is the quality of presence he brings. Joy, peace, harmony, effort, discipline: these are not things Mangku teaches so much as things he embodies. Stepping into his class, you feel it.

For visitors to Bali in particular, practising with Mangku is a rare opportunity to experience yoga as it lives within Balinese culture, not as a performance of tradition but as the real thing. His classes are open to all levels and require no prior experience, only a willingness to show up with an open mind and heart.

Mangku teaches in English and Indonesian.
